Multiplier reels are more complex than conventional reels, which is why they can also take a longer time to master. Penn multiplier reels, however, are designed to be easy to use, and also provide superb performance, which is why they are one of the most popular available.
About Penn
Penn was founded by Otto Henze, a German citizen who came to the United States in 1922. Initially, he worked for another fishing reel company called Ocean City Reels but eventually fulfilled his dream of starting his own company in 1932, which he named the Penn Fishing Tackle Manufacturing Company.
In the same year, the first Penn fishing reels were produced, the MOD F and the MOD K, which were sold to the public a year later. It would flourish in the next decade to become a well known fishing reel company, especially in the line of manufacturing reels for saltwater fishing, and by 1970, it had produced roughly 90 different reel models.
Today, Penn offers more than 200 different models of both freshwater and saltwater fishing reels, including versatile Penn multiplier reels, many of which have been used to set international fishing records.
